A beautiful pair of embroidered tapestries with an incredible history. A pair of exquisite hand-embroidered tapestries that were created in Japan and purchased by an American man who taught English. On the first, the scene depicts a traditional Japanese garden with a pagoda temple in the foreground. Embroidered creamy bonsai trees surround it. A man in traditional dress rows a boat seemingly on his way to the temple. A single red sun, an ode to the Japanese flag shines in the top left. Surrounding the embroidery work is a beautiful purple and yellow embroidered tape with a floral design. Outside of that, is another silk fabric with a geometric embroidered pattern. A mint green frame flanks the piece on all sides. The entire tapestry is framed in a simple gold metal frame, with glass to protect the work. In the second, the scene depicts a traditional Japanese garden with a figure walking over a bridge amongst ducks and flora and fauna. In the background, a Japanese pagoda temple is stitched in browns and oranges. Surrounding the embroidery work is a beautiful blue and white embroidered tape with a floral design. Outside of that, is another silk fabric with a geometric embroidered pattern. A mint green frame flanks the piece on all sides. The entire tapestry is framed in a simple gold metal frame, with glass to protect the work. But the history of this piece is perhaps the most beautiful part of all. During the man's stay in Japan, he met the man that he would spend the rest of his life with. Secretly, unfortunately. They framed this set and hung them in their home to remember their time in Japan and when they first met.
