The elephant, a revered symbol of wisdom, strength, protection, and good fortune throughout Asia, is depicted carrying an elaborate ceremonial howdah featuring stylized longevity and prosperity symbols. The sculptural form is exceptionally detailed, from the raised trunk and tusks to the elaborate saddle blanket and ornamental harness.
