Hopper studied art at Oklahoma State University under Doel Reed and later attended the Kansas City Art Institute. She worked as an illustrator for Hallmark, a fashion advertising artist for TG&Y, and a commercial artist for John A. Brown and The Oklahoma Publishing Company.
