This large antique Chinese Famille Rose vase is a spectacular example of hand-painted Qing-style porcelain, richly decorated with vibrant enamels, gilt accents, and exceptional multi-panel artistry. The piece features traditional Famille Rose decoration, identifiable by its lush palette of pinks, greens, yellows, and turquoise—colors that began to flourish during the Qing Dynasty and remain some of the most sought-after in Chinese export porcelain today.

One side of the vase showcases a finely detailed imperial court scene, complete with figures wearing flowing robes, architectural screens, floral pavilions, and landscape elements. The opposite panel features a beautifully rendered bird-and-blossom design, incorporating peonies, phoenix-like birds, and foliage—classic symbols of prosperity, harmony, and feminine beauty in Chinese decorative arts.

The neck and shoulder of the vase are densely painted with auspicious objects, lotus blooms, peach blossoms, scholar’s items, and gilt embellishments, all executed in the traditional Famille Rose manner. The bold medallion borders, scrolling florals, and decorative Greek-key band speak to its Qing-style inspiration.

The underside bears a red hallmark stamp, consistent with 20th-century Chinese workshop marks influenced by earlier reign seals.

This vase displays an exceptional level of hand-painted detail and color saturation—precisely the qualities collectors look for in export-market famille rose, decorative showroom pieces, and interior-designer-favored statement vases.

This vase was sourced from a private Southwestern collection in Santa Fe, with a focus on Asian decorative arts and Chinese export porcelain.

Condition Notes:
Consistent with age and hand-painted Famille Rose production:
Minor firing lines
Light surface wear to gilding
Small age-related enamel imperfections
Small hairline cracks in some areas
All typical and expected for vintage enamel-over-glaze Chinese ceramics.

Styling Suggestions

This vase is a showstopper and works beautifully in a range of premium interiors:

1. Old-World Collected Interiors

Place atop an antique chest, chinoiserie commode, or French marble console. Pair with gilt mirrors, export porcelain, and curated objects for an elevated “wealthy collector” aesthetic.

2. Hollywood Regency / Palm Beach Chic

The bright Famille Rose palette complements lacquered furniture, rattan, bamboo accents, and palm motifs. Add oversized branches for dramatic height.

3. Modern Traditional

Anchor a mantle or étagère with this bold Chinese vase. Its saturated colors pair beautifully with muted upholstery, neutral walls, and classic architectural detailing.

4. Grand Entryway Moment

Displayed solo on a pedestal or center table, it becomes a true statement piece—instantly giving a foyer presence and a sense of global history.

5. Layered Maximalism

Mix with ginger jars, Imari porcelain, colored glass, and books for a rich, “world traveler” styling vignette.
