Unreleased Clair Seglem of a Woman in Repose on Blue

Sourced from the estate of the late Oklahoma artist Clair Seglam. An airforce man for most of his life, Seglem only began painting after his retirement. Most known for his vibrant portraits and nudes, he completed a vast portfolio of work before he died in 2020.

This piece is part of a collection that was found in one of his old sketchbooks. It was hidden away in our warehouse when we happened upon it during inventory one day. To our surprise, the notebook held a jewel box of unseen work.

This piece is of a nude woman in repose. She sits upon what appears to be a white sheet with a brown cushion under her arm. She has short shaggy brown hair. the background is in a pale blue. This piece is one of only a few signed with the date of 16 January 1988, from this sketchbook.

This piece is on a large sheet of watercolor paper. There is a large amount of whitespace with the main artwork in the upper left corner. When framing, we suggest cropping or clipping the piece to just show the painting that is in the upper left.
