Unreleased Clair Seglem of a Woman in Purple on Red
Unreleased Clair Seglem of a Woman in Purple on Red
Sourced from the estate of the late Oklahoma artist Clair Seglam. An airforce man for most of his life, Seglem only began painting after his retirement. Most known for his vibrant portraits and nudes, he completed a vast portfolio of work before he died in 2020.
This piece is part of a collection that was found in one of his old sketchbooks. It was hidden away in our warehouse when we happened upon it during inventory one day. To our surprise, the notebook held a jewel box of unseen work.
This piece is of a woman in the nude with dark upswept hair. She sits perched upon a photography stool that is draped with a red cloth. She wears a purple undergarment. The background is in a smokey blue, purple, and gray, with a hint of coral pink in the upper right corner.
